I agree that Dole is a typical corporate conglomerat
i doubt if they will respond with an apology. Look at the other multi-nationals... Exxon Oil, who never did pay the poor Alaskan fishermen anything for their terrible oil spill on Alaskan shores. That was a real disaster.
Most multi-nationals listen to their attorneys. They take the issue to court and let the courts decide in their favor, and that is usually what happens, look at Enron and Dole when they poured pesticides on their fruit in Hawaii. I quit buying Dole products then at least a decade ago and it doesn't mean a thing.
Now, if we all decided NOT to PURCHASE EXXON for a period of a month, they would begin to think about sending a few bucks to Alaska fishermen. Maybe.

People often hollar and even march in protest, but they never get the attention of the rest of the public much less the corporation's attention.
It has to be an organized protest with appropriate penalties for the recipient

Hi Joan ~ I was so excited to see you comment on this. I watched that Dateline and wondered the same thing when they read the letter from Dole regarding the e.coli lettuce contamination. I was completely shocked that they didn't have a high-ranking representative from Dole apologizing for the problem. My only thought (which you discuss) is that the lawsuits these days could feed off of the commentary made and somehow turn it in around in their favor. Not sure. Either way, I was really waiting for a full-page newspaper apology or some type of public statement and shocked not to hear one. I also will not purchase Dole products because of the nature of our business and knowing they didn't do the right thing.

Thanks for bringing up such a great topic.
