Book marketing guru John Kremer offers this terrific tip for authors: when someone asks you about your book, don’t just stand there and talk about it. Hand it to them.

Susan Crook, author of the book Personaltiy Insights for Moms, told John that she took his advice when a man asked her why she was reading about marketing a book.

“So I grabbed my book, Personality Insights for Moms, out of my bag and HANDED it to him (as you prompted). Guess what? He loved it and bought it for his daughter (to help her with his grandchildren). How cool! You helped make that sale possible!”

Isn’t that a great idea? It plays off the old car dealer’s sales tactic of letting you “take the car home and keep it overnight.”
